A family tradition arose in the sporting world in the early 1900’s. Johnny Golomb, better known as “Doc” was the first of three generations of Golomb men who became designers of sporting equipment. In 1910 in New York City, Jack Golomb, the son of Johnny Golomb, founded a new sporting goods manufacturing company known as Everlast. Everlast produced high quality boxing equipment from boxing gloves, heavy bags to special shock resistant headgear. As time pasted and Everlast’s reputation for quality sport’s gear grew, Dan Golomb, Jack’s son took over the operation. Today, Everlast is currently run by Adam Geisler.
Jack Golomb was a man of vision. He was a promoter that helps amateurs gain the training to become professionals. Everlast sponsors Boxing work camps and boxing exhibitions to promote the sport. Jack cared on the tradition of his father who served as the personal designer for Joe Frazier, Sugar Ray Leonard, Larry Holmes, Evander Holyfield and the great Muhammad Ali.
Everlast products are well known for their quality and durability. Most gyms and training camps will have Everlast products as part of their inventory of sporting equipment. Everlast competes with other makers of sporting equipment throughout the world.
Everlast has evolved from a family business into an international sports marketing business conducted primarily by distributorships. The Everlast store is one of great success using the solid business principle of quality products and service to the industry.
Today many people do not realize the wide expanse of products produced by Everlast. They have branched out from the boxing industry into producing such things as male and female sportswear and fashions to video games. In 2006 they even ventured into the perfume and personal care market. In 2006 they launched the fragrance known as “Original 1910”.
Everlast has grown from a family business into a corporate giant in the sporting goods industry. Many company rivals and investors have kept their eyes on the growth and expansion of Everlast. In September 2007, Sports Direct completed its purchase of Everlast for $182.3 million dollars.
The story of Everlast is not over by any stretch of the imagination. The company has a long history of being a leader in the industry. There is no indication that the dedication to producing quality products will change. If you are thinking of investing money, you may want to keep your eye peeled for the next generation of products coming out of the Everlast division of Sports Direct.
